FYI ....
1) My PB 12.1 & 12.5.1 applications run about 20% slower on W2008R2 real servers.
- performance drops to 30% slower on VM based servers
- I suspect that W2012 performance hit will be similar
- Other than a few machine bios settings that help a little - there is not much we could do to improve this.
2) For DataWindows - there processing performance is tied into the current printer. PB draws its font usage from current printer and uses that to draw a bitmap image of the DWO.
- changing the default printer to one that has better true type font support can help a lot!
- If you use DW Controls .. think about swapping these out for DataStores where possible!
3) FWIW: I now compile all PB application EXE's to machine code. MS is up to 4,000 times faster than P-Code. So depending on what your application is doing, the performance gain may offset the W2012 overhead.
